Biography
Joshua Banerjee is an assistant professor of intellectual history and economics at the School of Civic Leadership, and a Civitas Fellow, both at the University of Texas at Austin. Previously, he was a visiting research scholar at Duke University and a James Buchanan fellow at George Mason University’s Mercatus Center. His research focuses on macroeconomic history, particularly of Britain. His research interests include the material and ideational determinants of economic growth (ideas, beliefs, and norms that shape behavior), the analysis of macroeconomic fluctuations, the history of economic and econometric thought, the relationship between the market and the state, and normative issues in the political economy of a prosperous and flourishing society. He has a Ph.D., M.Sc., and B.Sc. in economic history from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
